Male rats made obese by a high-fat diet were given cagrilintide, a peptide that acts on two receptors, together with GLP-3 R, a peptide that acts on three. The researchers measured body weight and how much the rats ate, and compared the pair against each drug given alone and against combinations built around semaglutide or tirzepatide. They also measured cholesterol, triglycerides and insulin in the blood. Separate pair-feeding and weight-matching groups were used to separate the effects of eating less from effects specific to the drugs. Plasma proteins and brain gene activity were profiled to look at which biological processes were involved.
