Buzzi RM et al. · BMJ case reports ·
One woman in her mid-20s was admitted with five days of persistent nausea, repeated vomiting, loose stools and markedly reduced food and drink intake. Blood tests, urinalysis, abdominal ultrasound and brain MRI found no other cause, and her symptoms continued despite intravenous fluids and several anti-nausea drugs. A repeated history then established that she had received four once-weekly subcutaneous injections of an unverified product reported to contain GLP-3 R, given by a self-described life coach without medical qualification. The researchers scored the case for causality and recorded when her symptoms resolved.
