Middle-aged mice treated with GHK-Cu peptide administered intraperitoneally or intranasally show behavioral rescue but divergent hippocampal aging programs

A preprint on Research Square, which means it has not been through peer review and should be read as a claim its authors have made rather than one other researchers have checked. Aged mice were given GHK-Cu by one of two delivery routes — one short, one running eight weeks; both are named in the paper — and then run through a spatial navigation task. The longer route shortened escape latency in both sexes across three trials. The shorter route did so only in males, only on a single trial, and not at all in females. Hippocampal RNA sequencing then showed the two routes driving opposite molecular programs: one suppressed oxidative phosphorylation while the other activated it. That divergence, rather than the behavioural result, is what the authors present as their finding.
