Effects of BPC-157 and TB-500 on Achilles tendon healing in rats: A histopathological and biomechanical study

Researchers transected and surgically reattached the Achilles tendon in 32 rats, then split them into four groups: an untreated control, BPC-157 alone, TB-500 alone, and the two together. The paper states the quantities, the route, and the schedule it used; all of them stay in its methods section. After four weeks the tendons were pulled until they failed and scored under a microscope. Tendons from the BPC-157 group took more force before failing than the untreated controls, but that difference did not reach statistical significance, and neither did the total structural scores. Collagen type I expression did not differ significantly between any of the four groups. The authors call the study exploratory and say the quantities used still need optimising.
